Sound familiar?
You've thought about it so many times.
Your yoga mat is your favorite place to be, the one place you can really breathe and feel at home with yourself. There's a little voice inside you that keeps asking for more, and you've been ignoring it for a while now.
Then you look at your practice and think, not yet, I need to wait until I'm more flexible, stronger and can do more advanced poses first. So you save the posts, open the tabs, close the tabs and tell yourself someday.
Maybe you've even wondered, what if I'm never ready? I don't want you to keep waiting on this dream and wake up years from now still wondering, what if I'd just gone for it?
Here's what I want you to know: readiness isn't the entry ticket. It's what the training gives you.
What makes this training different
Built so you leave ready to teach, not just certified
Trained directly by me
A maximum of 12 students, and every bit of feedback comes from me, not an assistant. I keep this group intimate on purpose, so you're truly seen and supported the way you deserve.
You teach from Day 1
You practice teach in every asana lab, every single day. Repetition builds confidence, so you get the nerves out and find your voice while you're held and supported here. By Day 28, you're a confident, capable teacher, ready to get out there and share your gifts.
No scripts. Learn the why.
You feel the difference in your own body first, so you understand why each cue works. Then applied anatomy teaches you to see the human in front of you, notice what's happening and know what to say. You leave with a framework you keep applying as you grow, even beyond what we cover in the training. That's the why, and it's what makes you a teacher, not someone repeating a script.
Fully immersive
28 days with your life on pause, so all your energy goes into practicing, learning and living yoga. That post-mat feeling becomes your baseline.

Is this training for you?
It's for you if
- You've practiced consistently for at least 6 months, or many years, and feel the call
- You want to teach, or you're not sure yet. About half my students join just for themselves, for their own growth as a practitioner, with no plan to ever teach. You're so welcome here too.
- You're in a season of change and ready to give yourself this time
- You're curious, coachable and open to the spiritual side of yoga
- You want depth, not shortcuts
You don't need
- Advanced poses. If they're in your practice, beautiful, they're welcome here, but they're not a requirement for a 200-hour training.
- Years of experience. If you've practiced for years and you're finally saying yes, I'm so proud of you. I've also watched students newer to the practice become successful teachers, myself included. All I ask is 6 months of consistent practice.
- To be a certain age. I've trained people from their 20s into their late 50s, and if you're in a later season of life, you're so welcome here too.
It might not be the right fit if
- You're looking for a quick fitness certificate
- You can't be there for the full 28 days
- You'd rather skip the philosophy and inner work
Not sure? Let's talk. I'm happy to point you in the right direction, whether that's my training or another one.
Your teacher
Hi, I'm Maddy
When I wanted to do my first teacher training, I was tight like the Tin Man. I wasn't strong, I wasn't flexible, and my mind was all over the place. Yoga had become the one place I could breathe, and it was already having such a profound impact on my life that I craved more! I told my teacher I wanted to do a YTT someday, but I wasn't ready yet. She looked at me and said, "You don't have to be ready. YTT gets you ready." So, I flew to Thailand for my first YTT, and it changed my life.
Years later, as a lead teacher hiring new teachers, I watched so many new grads freeze in their auditions. That wasn't their fault; it was their training's. They'd been handed cues, scripts, and sequences to memorize, but never taught the why. This left them rattling off memorized cues, completely disconnected from the students in front of them, and if they forgot what they memorized, they'd freeze. So I moved across the world and built the training I wished existed, around the thing so many trainings skip.
I believe the world needs more yoga from high-quality teachers who truly get it. So, I've devoted myself to making a positive impact on the next generation of yoga teachers by empowering them to teach with skill, love, and grace.
- Founder of Samastha Yoga Shala, a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS 200)
- E-RYT 500, YACEP and CSCS
- B.S. in Kinesiology, B.A. in Communication
- 1,020+ hours of formal teacher training, trauma-sensitive yoga included
- Teaching movement since 2014, with 4,000+ hours of yoga taught
Life in Lombok
Ocean, jungle and space to breathe
The training takes place in the jungle of Kuta, Lombok, a short scooter ride from the ocean. Training runs Monday to Saturday, and Sundays are yours: turquoise bays, waterfalls, sunset at Bukit Merese or snorkeling with sea turtles on Gili Air.
A day in the training
Every day carries its own flow. This is a glimpse of the rhythm. You can count on starting every morning with 90 minutes of practice, closing every evening with guided meditation and ending each week with sound healing to help you integrate it all.
Your investment
Three rooms. One training.
Every room includes the full 200 hours with me, 27 nights at the retreat and two meals a day. Pick the space that feels right, pay in full or spread it out.
Early bird pricing for everyone through November 30. Payment plans available.
Questions, answered
What if I'm not sure I want to teach?
You're so welcome here. About half my students join just for themselves, to deepen their practice and explore yoga beyond the mat, with no plan to ever teach. Plenty of them end up teaching anyway.
Am I too old? Am I too new to yoga?
I've trained students from their 20s into their late 50s, and if you're in a later season of life, you're so welcome here too. Some of my most successful grads were also newer to the practice, myself included. All I ask is at least 6 months of consistent practice.
How do I get to Kuta, Lombok?
The easiest route is to fly directly into Lombok International Airport (LOP), just 25 minutes from the shala. Airport transfers can be arranged through the accommodation, and you can also connect from Bali to Lombok.
Or fly into Bali (Denpasar, DPS) and take a 2.5 to 3 hour boat ride to Lombok. Take a morning boat for the smoothest seas. The two most reliable companies are Gili Gili and Eka Jaya Fast Boat. From the port in Lombok, it's about a 2-hour drive south to Kuta. It adds travel time, but it's a beautiful journey if you'd like a few days in Bali first.
When should I arrive and leave?
Arrival: plan to arrive by the evening of Sunday, May 2, for an optional welcome dinner. Training begins Monday, May 3 at 7:00am. Arriving early gives you time to settle in, rest and connect with your group.
Departure: our closing ceremony is Saturday afternoon, May 29, and the day ends at 2:00pm. If you're flying out of Lombok, book a flight no earlier than 6:30pm, or 7:30pm or later for international flights. Want to stay longer? You can book extra nights directly through Samastha Yoga Shala or nearby accommodations.
Is this training Yoga Alliance certified?
Yes. This is a 200-hour Yoga Alliance accredited Hatha Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training, so when you successfully complete it, you're eligible to register as an RYT 200.
Certification is earned, not handed out. You'll meet a minimum standard of attendance, participation, understanding of key concepts and teaching competency. I'm deeply invested in your success, and if you need extra support to meet the final criteria, I'll work with you directly after the training until you feel ready and fully qualified to teach.
Do I need a visa?
Yes. I recommend a 60-day tourist visa, since the standard 30-day visa can feel tight with travel days on each end of the 28-day training. You can usually apply online or through your nearest Indonesian consulate before you arrive. The visa office is closed on weekends.
Are payment plans available?
Yes. At checkout, you can pay 25% today and the rest in 3 monthly payments. Early bird pricing applies to payment plans too, through November 30, 2026. Choose your room here.
Are scholarships available?
In line with Samastha's values of inclusivity and accessibility, I offer a limited number of partial scholarships for genuine financial need. Email me with the subject line "Scholarship Inquiry" and we'll start a conversation.
Can I room with a friend?
Yes. Email hello@maddyjoneswellness.com and I'll do my best to pair you together. Make sure you both book the same room type.
What is Hatha Vinyasa yoga?
If you've taken one of my Vinyasa classes, this is the style I teach and guide you to share. Traditional Vinyasa often moves quickly from one posture to the next, linking breath to movement. Hatha Vinyasa brings in the mindful, alignment-based qualities of Hatha yoga for more balance and awareness within the flow.
You still get the creative, fluid nature of Vinyasa, with more time to explore alignment, stability and presence in each pose, plus meditation and pranayama woven into your daily practice and teaching.
What food is served?
Two meals a day are included, with omnivore, vegetarian and vegan options. After you book, you'll fill out an intake form where you can share any dietary needs or allergies so the kitchen can take care of you.
Do I need to bring my own mat or props?
Mats and props (blocks, bolsters, straps) are at the shala, and you're welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
What's the weather like in May?
Warm, tropical days around 30 to 31°C (86 to 88°F) and balmy evenings around 24 to 25°C (75 to 77°F). May is the start of Lombok's dry season, so expect mostly sunny days with only occasional light rain, while the island is still lush and green.
Will I have free time?
Yes. Training runs Monday to Saturday, and Sundays are completely yours. Each training day also has spacious breaks, either an extended lunch for rest and self-study or an earlier finish for sunset and connection.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes, reliable Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, though I encourage you to use this time to unplug and be fully present.
How do I get data in Indonesia?
The easiest option is an international eSIM like Airalo or Nomad, which works the moment you land with no registration. I use Airalo, and you can use my code MARYMA6955 for $3 off your first eSIM.
You can also buy a local SIM (Telkomsel or XL). If you do, Indonesia requires foreign phones to register their IMEI number with customs within 24 hours of arrival, usually right at the airport. Make sure your phone is unlocked before you travel.
Which vaccinations do you recommend?
Vaccination is a personal decision, and none are required to enter Indonesia. Many travelers visit a travel health clinic before departure. Commonly recommended vaccines for Lombok include routine vaccines (MMR, DTP, polio, varicella, flu and COVID-19), Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies. Talk with your doctor or a travel medicine specialist 4 to 6 weeks before your flight to decide what's right for you.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, travel insurance is highly recommended. It gives you peace of mind for flight delays, medical needs or unexpected changes. Options include SafetyWing, World Nomads and Allianz Travel. Make sure your plan includes medical coverage and trip cancellation or interruption protection.
Can I stay longer after the training?
Yes, many students stay and explore Indonesia. You can book extra nights through our accommodation partner or another hotel nearby, at your own expense.
Feeling the call? Let's talk.
